Despite the threat of rain, the afternoon of 1 December was sunny and bright. Residents, loaded with their picnic blankets and cooler boxes descended on the soccer field, organising their spots, while the scent of burgers and onions grilling tantalised the taste buds. 

While Obsession Live entertained with live music and popular holiday songs, anticipation was palpable. 

Faces decorated as reindeer, butterflies, rainbows and more eagerly waited in line for balloon flowers and swords handed down from the lofty heights of the silt-walker clowns. 

Father Christmas, his bag heavy, made his way to his festive throne, with a hearty “Ho, ho, ho.” Children excitedly gathered, patiently waiting for their names to be called and brightly wrapped gifts bestowed. 



Under the heat of summer sun, brightly coloured slushes and tightly fisted ice-creams kept young and old cool. As the sun set, laughter and music still filled the air.
