DRAW NIGHT 7 NOV

FRIDAY DRAW NIGHT

back by popular demand - sponsored by RE/MAX 2000

Draw Night was held at Coppa on Friday 6 November opening with a R20 000 pot. Live music, great giveaways, and happy hour between 18h00 and 19h00 added to the fun.

This was the first Draw Night hosted by new sponsor Danie Barnard of RE/MAX 2000, after the exiting sponsor James Carr of RE/MAX Masters  handed over:

Believed to be the longest-running event at Eagle Canyon, Friday Draw Night has become a much-loved institution since its launch in 2007. Created and sponsored by Resident James Carr of Remax Masters, the event was started as a way for Residents to spend time getting to know each other in an informal setting. The lure of the cash draw was the cherry on top. James invested in the Estate when it first opened and has been living here for the past five years. As an Estate Agent, he has been bringing new Residents to the Estate since 2007.

“I noticed a need to have a community event. People moving in didn’t know each other and this was a way to provide a common ground to meet and greet the neighbours. That first Draw Night, I wasn’t sure if there would be five or 50 people, but it just took off. It’s a widely supported event and I have had lots of fun doing it.”

Chad Stuart, Managing Director of Westrand Nashua, has been a Resident for 14 years. Through his friendship with James, Chad was invited to partner in the event four years ago. This partnership allowed them to increase to a second pot to be won.

There have been a number of memorable moments over the past 13 years. “For me, it has to be the record giveaway of R34 000, the young lady had just sold her property due to financial difficulties and this win meant so much to her,” shares James.

“For me, it was the night we had a must-win pot and drew more than 30 names before a Resident was present that could win the R20 000,” adds Chad.

Like with all things, change is inevitable. James and his family have been given an incredible opportunity to move to Tuscany Italy, where they will be farming grapes and olives, as well as providing holiday accommodation. “It has been the privilege of my life serving this community. I want to thank the Estate and Residents for your support and friendship over the years. I have loved every minute and take away fond memories of this Estate.”

While still a keen a supporter of Draw Night, Chad’s family commitments have also meant that he will be exiting Draw Night: “My commitment to my son’s sport unfortunately rules out Friday nights and has to take priority.”

This does not mean the end of Draw Night, as James is handing over to another well-known personality – Danie Barnard of Remax 2000. Says James: “This event has been my baby and has grown over the past 13 years. Danie has been a constant supporter and a regular over the years and I cannot think of anyone better to carry this forward.”

Danie, who has been operating as an Estate Agent at Eagle Canyon its inception, is excited to have this new venture. “I must admit, I have always been a little jealous of this event and upset with the fact I didn’t come up with the idea myself as I ran a similar event at Kempton Park Country Club for four years (Having 200 to 250) every Friday.”

He adds that he has always dreamed great things for Eagle Canyon and cannot wait to be part of the social aspect of the community and to continue the legacy that James and Chad have started, while having fun at the same time. “With your support, we can succeed.”

Danie’s first Draw Night will be at Coppa on Friday 6 November opening with a R20 000 pot. Live music, great giveaways, and happy hour between 18h00 and 19h00. The draw will take place anytime between 18h30 and 20h30. Come see for yourself!
